| 07.02.2008 | Click! New photos added to the, uhm, photos section. If you have any good quality (as in not your camera phone) shots of the sm boys, feel free to send in a link to them (via flickr, etc... do not send in the files please) and we will slap em up on this here site if we deem them awesome. That is all. |
| 07.01.2008 | Tour Dates Are A Go! Ok then, tour dates are up. Still a few TBA's in there, but they should be coming in in the next few days. Once again, this is just the first half of the US tour, hold back on the angry emails until later this year when we post the rest of the tour (on the road in Jan/Feb '09). And yes, we are intentionally leaving out your home town, because we hate you. Just you. It's all about avoiding you. |
| 07.01.2008 | 4 OUT OF 7 IN 3 BEFORE 9 TOUR! Well, that's what it's called, so get used to it. The 4 Out Of 7 In 3 Before 9 Tour starts in the US on October 8th in New York and ends on the 19th of October in California. Legs two and three see us in Australia for about a week, followed by about a week in Japan, both in November. Then, finally, December brings us about 2 weeks worth of UK shows, to round out the year. Tea time, em effers! Never before have we traversed so much of the earth so quickly, so cross your fingers, knock on your wood or whatever it is you do, so that we may somehow survive the whole damn thing. Stay tuned for details on the cities and venues (as we confirm them, we post them), more info on the tour, tour artwork, etc etc in the coming days. And to those of you who are about to write us about how much you hate our guts for skipping your city: chill winston, we're on the way. Come '09, we will be hitting the road again in the first few weeks of January to finish up the US states we will miss in October. Shortly after that, we plan on invading mainland Europe. By that point we figure we'll have covered every possible corner of the world... or will there be more? Fuck yes, indeed, there will be more. Also, Dan Potthast will be tailing us through Australia, Japan and the UK again. Does anyone know how to get rid of this guy? Please advise. |
| 06.29.2008 | Rumors Abound! Once again we have to dispel some silly rumors about Streetlight. We've been getting emails asking about the following, so here are the facts: 1) We are not releasing an album on October 28th this year. I know it comes from a "good source" but, as we've said in the past, the only source for accurate Streetlight info is right here. We're just as confused by this rumor as you guys (well, maybe a little less confused, but more on that later. As in "a few months from now" later) 2) We are not coming to the UK soon with "insert-band-name-here", nor are we playing this year's Leeds/Reading Festival. No idea how these rumors started, and we truly appreciate the enthusiasm from our tea-sipping friends, but once again, if you hear it from anywhere besides right here, it's probably not true. Also, in other news: We're terribly sorry we can't do more all ages shows in Australia this time around. It's not within our power to change this (and boy do you guys have some strange all-ages laws..). We feel fortunate to be coming down under at all, so quickly after the last time. Hopefully next time will see more all ages shows. Lastly, if you happen to live in Japan, the Japanese tour dates are coming through. Look to the right! If you're more interested in things like new tour dates, come back on Tuesday. Yes, tomorrow. Trust us. |
| 05.23.2008 | A Few Fourteen Hour Flights Later... Australia! Japan! We're coming over! It's true, this October and November we'll be headed to the other side of the world again, first to return to Oz (less than a year later!) for a headlining tour (full sets!), then, FINALLY, after years of touring everywhere else, we are headed over to Japan for the first time. Suffice it to say, we're ecstatic. Dates for the Australian shows are up now, with the Japanese details to follow. Next up on our to-do lists: Team Streetlight! |
| 05.19.2008 | Post Tour Wrap Up We've survived! Somehow we made it through what had proven to be our most difficult tour so far. The shows were awesome, amazing, the turnouts were huge, you guys were great, we had a blast playing live as usual and all that. But as you may have heard we were bombarded with one tragedy after another. First and foremost, Jim is healthy again, although two teeth lighter and one huge hospital bill heavier. Special thanks go out to Adam Jackson, Zox's sound guy, for filling in on the tenor sax for a few days while Jim was in the hospital. Our beloved motor home, our home on the road for the last two years finally died a quiet death somewhere in Indiana this tour as well. We spent the last two weeks in a rented minivan (soccer mom style!) and a rented uHaul truck. Classy, we know. Somehow we made it to all the shows and didn't have to cancel a single one. In between all this, we had some chipped teeth, keys locked inside vehicles, nightly equipment meltdowns, and countless other misfortunes. But as mentioned, luckily, the shows were amazing. Thanks to all who came out. In Chicago, we raffled off Tomas' acoustic guitar to one Shaun Rangel. We managed to raise $720 for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America via the guitar and another raffle the night before for one of Dan Potthast's paintings, and we here at Streetlight will be doubling that amount out of our pockets to make the total contribution to the organization $1440. We were going to do another charity event before the end of the tour, but all of our misfortunes piled up and we could barely limp past the finish line. Next time! And speaking of next time: We're already planning our next few months. Well, the next few we'll be laying low, preparing, maybe even locking ourselves in rooms with microphones, we'll see. But come fall, we will be back out in full force, touring our asses off. Coincidentally, we're sitting on some awesome, AWESOME information that will be announced here in a day or three regarding some more overseas touring, this time including a country that pretty much all of SM have been DYING to go to since day one... See you in a few days! |
| 05.02.2008 | Bamboozle! For those of you that will be attending Bamboozle tomorrow, we will be playing our set at the NowWhat.com stage (Main Stage B) at 2:30PM. Later in the day, Tomas will be doing an acoustic set on the Bamboozle TV Studio stage at 7:45PM. See you there! |
| 04.25.2008 | Hard Times, Ups and Downs Wow. In the 24 hours following our Pittsburgh show, fate took a wrong turn for us. En route to the next show in Detroit, our motor home broke down. And we mean really, really broke down. Just short of exploding, the RV was useless on the side of the road, and we're all lucky to have not died in the accident that we luckily prevented due to the empty early morning highway. We got towed and managed to find a van rental place in the middle of nowhere and got on our way to Detroit, with about 2 hours of sleep between the 10 of us. When we got to Detroit, Jim, our tenor saxist and main secondary vocalist, realized the facial infection he was nursing was too serious to ignore any longer. In Pensacola, FL a week back, a kid jumped up on stage and hit his mic, which in turn slammed Jim's sax into his mouth. Somehow, the wound got infected on his gum, which ballooned half his face up with swelling the size of a grapefruit. Despite a round of antibiotics, it got worse, to the point where half of his face was practically paralyzed by the time we reached Detroit. He immediately went to the hospital, where we learned it was serious (they put him on morphine immediately) and he had to stay for surgery to remove a tooth and drain the abscess. We had to leave him in the hospital for a few days and, unfortunately, continue the tour without him. Now anyone that's seen us live, especially recently, knows how important Jim is to our live show, both vocally and as a horn player. We had to redistribute his vocal/horn lines among the remaining members and pair down which songs we are able to play (we're doing a bit more off of Numb because of this). Point of the story is, please cross your fingers and say a prayer or two for Jim and a quick recovery. We're not sure when he'll be able to rejoin the tour, so until he does, we're a six-peice. |
| 04.22.2008 | Help Us Help Events, PART 1 The Help Us Help Foundation (Risc's fledgling charity wing) will be hosting two Streetlight related events on the 41 Days, 41 Nights of Tour: First, there will be a raffle at the May 6th Chicago show at the Metro for Tomas' acoustic mini guitar. The raffle tickets will cost one dollar at the merch table, and there will be no limit to how many tickets any individual can buy (the more you donate, the better your chances of winning are). Then, during Streetlight's set that night, the band will choose the winning ticket number and invite the winner onstage to receive the prize. As for the prize, Tomas says: "This is my baby. I bought the guitar specifically for the road right around our second tour, because it was small and portable and sounded great for its size. It's been through hell, and has been on every Streetlight tour until this last one and it's followed me on vacations, on trips, pretty much everywhere I've been for the last few years... It was left behind on the floor of our van when we were robbed (making it a perfect prize for a HUH benefit, since that robbery planted the seeds of HUH). Many of the songs on the new record (and a few other records) were written on this little guy, usually while driving or sitting backstage. I've dropped it a few times and there are parts that are patched up with duct tape, but as far as physical objects that are intertwined with Streetlight history, this guitar is responsible for bringing forth most of our new music. Although the sentimentalist in me hates to see it go, it's my honor to give it away in a way that helps a meaningful charity and brings some attention to a terrible disease." The entire band will autograph the guitar prior to the giveaway. All proceeds from the raffle will go to The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. The second event is yet to be announced. Stay tuned, as it will be up in a few days. Thanks. |
| 04.12.2008 | Ta-Daa! Hello and welcome to our brand new home on the web! We're still moving in so please be patient as we add more and more content and information to our site. If you have any questions about the site, any problems with how it works, etc, please let us know, as it is still a work in progress. We're currently on the road on the 41 Days & 41 Nights of Tour with Zox and Dan Potthast. Also making appearances on select dates will be Rick Johnson, The Johnstones, The Supervillains and somehow we were able to pull the legendary MU330 out of semi-hibernation for the last two shows of the run, which should be amazing for all in attendance. Despite going out on the road every summer for the last few years, we will be taking some time off from touring after this one, so if you want to see Streetlight live any time before late 2008, this tour is the one to go to. See you at the shows! Also, if you happen to be a Streetlight fan from the great country of Japan, or if you speak Japanese, please email us. We could use your help.. Check back often, as new stuff will be popping up all the time now, and news will be more frequent. Seriously. |
