Despite somehow still feeling like the new kid on the block, it’s both sobering and exhilarating to realize that we’ve survived for two god damned decades as a band. From the early days of flirting with death every week in various vehicles speeding though various countries, to the middle days of watching the crowds grow larger and more fervent with every tour, to more recent days as we arrive at a place where we can sit back for a moment and appreciate how big and beautiful a part of our lives this band of fellow goofballs has become. TWENTY YEARS. DAMB. Next year we can finally ditch our fake ID’s, holy moly.
SO! To celebrate, we will be treating our fellow New Jerseyans (and each other) to a concert at a venue we haven’t played in many, many years. It’s arguably our first home venue despite our long absence, since many of our early shows were in the smaller, indoor part of the club, but today we are excited to announce an OUTDOOR SUMMER HEADLINE SHOW at the Stone Pony Summer Stage. And what’s more, as a throwback to those early days of making noises in Asbury Park, we’ll be playing our first record, Everything Goes Numb, from front to back (as well as a handful of other tunes of course) during a sweet New Jersey summer Saturday evening.
This band has been a joy and an honor for every one of us in it, and we hope you all can come out to celebrate our birthday year with us. Much love, the SM boys.
